Certified Management Accountant (CMA)

CMA FOUNDATION COURSE

The CMA Foundation Course is the entry-level examination for aspiring Cost and Management Accountants in India. It covers fundamental concepts in key areas such as:

  • Fundamentals of Economics and Management (FEM)
  • Fundamentals of Accounting (FOA)
  • Fundamentals of Laws and Ethics (FLE)
  • Fundamentals of Business Mathematics and Statistics (FBMS)

The course is designed to provide a strong foundation for future CMA studies. It is open to students who have completed their 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or equivalent examination.

Alternatively, students who have completed the National Diploma in Commerce from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) are also eligible.

The CMA Foundation course consists of 4 papers, focusing on building a strong base in accounting, economics, and business fundamentals.

CMA Intermediate Course

The CMA Intermediate Course is the second level of the CMA program, providing in-depth knowledge of financial management, cost accounting, and regulatory frameworks.

Eligibility: Candidates must have passed the CMA Foundation exam. Graduates in any discipline other than Fine Arts can directly register for CMA Intermediate without appearing for CMA Foundation.

The course consists of 8 papers, divided into two groups:

  • Group 1: Financial Accounting (FA), Laws and Ethics (LE), Direct Taxation (DTX), Cost Accounting (CA)
  • Group 2: Operations Management and Strategic Management (OMSM), Cost & Management Accounting and Financial Management (CMAFM), Indirect Taxation (ITX), Company Accounts and Audit (CAA)

CMA Final Course

The CMA Final Course is the last stage of the CMA journey, offering advanced expertise in strategic cost management, financial strategy, and business analysis.

Eligibility: Candidates must have passed the CMA Intermediate examination.

The course is divided into two groups, each consisting of four papers:

  • Group 3: Corporate Laws and Compliance (CLC), Strategic Financial Management (SFM), Strategic Cost Management - Decision Making (SCMD), Direct Tax Laws and International Taxation (DTLIT)
  • Group 4: Corporate Financial Reporting (CFR), Indirect Tax Laws and Practice (ITLP), Cost and Management Audit (CMA), Strategic Performance Management and Business Valuation (SPMBV)

Completing this course is a major step toward becoming a Cost and Management Accountant, preparing candidates for high-level professional roles in cost accounting, financial management, and strategic business management.
